About the practice

The next life of a broken thing.

Just a Bita Me is a one-person studio making abstract sculpture from materials most people throw away. Slate rescued from demolished walls. Epoxy resin cast in reclaimed moulds. Mannequins hauled out of storage and given a second surface. And living, breathing plant art hung to drift through the room.

The work sits between geology, figuration and gardening — hard and soft, ancient and alive, all of it rescued.

How the studio works

Reclaim first

Every piece starts with a hunt — demolition slate, offcut resin, a mannequin from a closing shop. New materials are a last resort.

Let the material lead

Slate breaks how it breaks; resin pools where it wants. I design around the material's character rather than fighting it.

Keep it living

The hanging plant pieces grow, dry and regrow. They're not frozen objects — they're slow collaborations with the seasons.

Make it by hand

No batches, no moulds repeated beyond a handful. Each work is a one-off made on the bench, one shard at a time.

From skip to studio wall

  1. 01

    Salvage

Slate, mannequins, timber and resin offcuts are gathered from building sites, charity shops and neighbours' skips.

  2. 02

    Sort & clean

Materials are cleaned, cracked along honest lines and sorted by colour and weight. Nothing is disguised — the breaks stay visible.

  3. 03

    Compose

Shards are dry-laid until a composition feels right, then set in poured resin or mounted onto a reclaimed substrate.

  4. 04

Fun self watering spider plant holders

Fill once every 2 weeks — living spider plants set into reclaimed forms designed to look after themselves with minimal fuss.
